It was recently announced that Princess Cruises will move the Ocean Princess to P&O Cruises, its sister company, in the fall of 2002 to serve the growing cruise market in the United Kingdom. The transfer of the 77,000-gross-register-ton ship, which will be renamed Oceana, will occur at the same time Princess takes delivery of another new vessel, the 88,000-grt Coral Princess, now being built by the French shipyard Chantiers de l'Atlantique.
Both companies are part of P&O Princess Cruises plc, one of the largest international cruise companies, with some of the strongest cruising brand names: Princess Cruises in North America; P&O Cruises and Swan Hellenic in the UK; AIDA and Seetours in Germany; and P&O Cruises in Australia.
